I used to be mortified to show these photos. Now, I am empowered by them.
I’m going to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kelley Pounds. I am a wife, mother, Registered Nurse and Certified Diabetes Educator by trade. I have battled my weight from childhood…attending Weight Watchers as early as age 10 (I’ve done Weight Watchers 4 times in my life). I’ve also tried other diets, like low fat, pre-packaged food diets and calorie restricted diets, sometimes consuming as little as 500 calories a day in an effort to lose weight. They were all miserable failures and none contributed to good health.
Now in my early 40’s, I was tired and fed up. My health was declining. I was pre-diabetic with elevated cholesterol and triglycerides, high blood pressure, acid reflux, poor mood and extreme low self esteem! My lack of energy was profound.
At the suggestion of my dad, himself a Type 2 diabetic who had lost 80 lbs and was managing his diabetes with a low carb lifestyle, I started to read (see my recommended reading list HERE), and thoroughly research this way of eating. As a nurse, it all made so much sense to me. I started to eliminate sugar and processed grains and starches, and started to replace them with real, whole foods and healthy sources of carbohydrates with increased emphasis on healthy fats. For the first time in years, I felt energetic, and the weight started melting off.
As of this posting, I have lost 80 lbs. Gone is my pre-diabetes and hypertension. I am NOWHERE NEAR pre-diabetes. I have perfect fasting and post meal glucose levels. My blood pressure has gone from 170’s/90’s ON medication to 115/65 (average) WITHOUT medication. Triglycerides and cholesterol are perfect. My acid reflux of 21 years…gone! I’m off the acid blockers! In fact, I am off all medications. I can also testify as to what LCHF does for mental clarity and mood stability. I feel amazing, balanced and energetic!
Please join me in pursuing wellness, for yourself, your family, your children, your life. This is NOT a diet! No diet works! You MUST eliminate bad health habits and replace them with good ones. When you do what is right for your body, you eliminate excess weight and eliminate the cause of chronic disease. It is then that you can achieve wellness.
