If you have already done so, you now understand the reasons why an LCHF way of eating is a healthy one. Of course, being a healthcare professional, my interest is in how LCHF decreases your risk of chronic disease, and creates total wellness.

Most importantly to me, as one with a passion for fighting diabetes, is that LCHF can reverse Type 2 diabetes for many. This is accomplished by stabilizing blood sugars and decreasing insulin levels. It can also stabilize blood sugars for Type 1’s while significantly decreasing insulin needs and nearly eliminating dangerous hypoglycemic episodes. Many diabetics, that are well controlled with LCHF, can also avoid the risks of long term diabetic complications, such as kidney disease, nerve and eye damage, and lessen risks of cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s and dementia.

How is this accomplished? LCHF decreases blood sugar and insulin levels. It reduces triglycerides and small, dense LDL, while raising healthy HDL. It also reduces systemic inflammation in the body.

LCHF is an extremely nutrient dense way of eating. So while fighting chronic disease, it is simultaneously creating total wellness. Poor nutrition, in my opinion, is the primary cause of chronic disease, and good nutrition is the definitive cure.

Last, but CERTAINLY not least, LCHF is the absolute BEST way to lose weight while simultaneously improving health. There are lots of ways to lose weight. You could intentionally starve yourself and lose weight. You could eat 500 calories a day and lose weight. You could crash diet and lose weight. But NONE of those things create wellness. Obesity is not a disease, it is a SYMPTOM of a larger problem. Fixing the problem and restoring health generates weight loss with much less effort than you have ever tried before. How would you like to lose weight without being hungry or feeling deprived?  LCHF is one of the most effective weight loss strategies, especially in reducing dangerous belly fat, while preserving healthy lean muscle mass.  By restoring your health, the symptom, being overweight, corrects itself.
